The Attitude and Behavior of God’s Love

Love

 suffers long, is patient, never gives up, endures long.

 is kind, cares for others as well as for self.

 does not envy, doesn’t want what it doesn’t have,

never boils over with jealousy.

 does not parade itself, is not conceited, doesn’t strut, is not boastful

or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily.

 is not puffed up, is not proud, doesn’t have a swelled head,

is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride).

 is not ill-mannered, doesn’t force itself on others, is not rude

(unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly.

 does not seek its own, is not selfish, isn’t always “me first,” does not

insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking.

 is not provoked, is not irritable, doesn’t fly off the handle,

is not touchy or fretful or resentful.

 thinks no evil, does not keep a record of wrongs, doesn’t keep score

of the sins of others, takes no account of the evil done to it

[it pays no attention to a suffered wrong].

 does not rejoice in iniquity, is not happy with evil, doesn’t revel when

others grovel, does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness.

 rejoices in the truth, takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,

rejoices when right prevails.

 bears all things, never gives up, puts up with anything, bears up

under anything and everything that comes.

 believes all things, trusts God always, is ever ready to

believe the best of every person.

 hopes all things, always looks for the best, its hopes are

fadeless under all circumstances.

 endures all things, keeps going to the end, endures everything

[without weakening].

 never fails, is eternal, never dies, never fades out

or becomes obsolete or comes to an end.
