Word of Life

Statement Of Faith

LION-SML.JPG (3786 bytes)

bulletWE BELIEVE the Holy Bible is the only inspired and infallible Word of God.

"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness," (2 Timothy 3:16)

"having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever,

"But the word of the LORD endures forever." Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you." (1 Peter 1:23,25)

bulletWE BELIEVE in one God, manifested by the Trinity: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

"…we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no other God but one." (1 Corinthians 8:4)

"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit," (Matthew 28:19)

"But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me." (John 15:26)

bulletWE BELIEVE in the existence of Satan and his control over unregenerate humanity.

"And He said to them, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven." (Luke 10:18)

"But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing,

"whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them."  (2 Corinthians 4:3,4)

bulletWE BELIEVE God created the human race: The family as the basic foundation of society; and monogamous, heterosexual marriage as the intended environment for human reproduction.

"Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.’

"So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

"Then God blessed them, and God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.’" (Genesis 1:26-28a)

"Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. " (Genesis 2:24)

bulletWE BELIEVE in a literal heaven and a literal hell.

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

"to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you," (1 Peter 1:3,4)

"For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment;

"then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment," (2 Peter 2:4,9)

bulletWE BELIEVE Jesus Christ (God the Son, incarnate) was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, shed His blood for the remission of the sins of humanity in His death on the cross, was raised from the dead, ascended to the right hand of the Father, and will return for His church.

"Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth,

"to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin's name was Mary.

"Then the angel said to her, ‘Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.

"’And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name JESUS.’" (Luke 1:26,27,30,31)

"The God of our fathers raised up Jesus whom you murdered by hanging on a tree.

"Him God has exalted to His right hand to be Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins." (Acts 5:30,31)

"For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.

"Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord."  (1 Thessalonians 4:16,17)

bulletWE BELIEVE the human race is born under sin as a result of Adam’s transgression and needs a spiritual rebirth from the Father, for which we must accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

"Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned;

"so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 5:12,21)

"that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

"For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." (Romans 10:9,10)

bulletWE BELIEVE justification is through faith that it might be by grace, and not of "religious" works, lest anyone should boast.

"Therefore it is of faith that it might be according to grace, so that the promise might be sure to all the seed, not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all" (Romans 4:16)

"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,

"not of works, lest anyone should boast.

"For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them." (Ephesians 2:8-10)

bulletWE BELIEVE it is the responsibility of each individual to live according to the Holy Bible, honestly and to the best of his/her understanding.

"Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;" (Philippians 2:12)

"Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." (2 Timothy 2:15)

bulletWE BELIEVE in the baptism of the Holy Spirit, accompanied by the ability to speak with other tongues, as a manifestation of the Holy Spirit’s ministry through believers; and that it is available to all who ask in faith.

"I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire." (Matthew 3:11)

"When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

"And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.

"Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them.

"And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." (Acts 2:1-4)

"For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call." (Acts 2:39)

bulletWE BELIEVE in the charismatic gifts of the Holy Spirit for the edification of the church.

"But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all:

"for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit,

"to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit,

"to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues." (1 Corinthians 12:7-10)

bulletWE BELIEVE in divine healing for the physical body, the mind, and the emotions.

"The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed;" (Luke 4:18)

"And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;

"they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover." (Mark 16:17,18)

bulletWE BELIEVE in water baptism by immersion as a public testimony of having accepted Jesus Christ as Savior.

"He who believes and is baptized shall be saved." (Mark 16:16)

"Or do you know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life." (Romans 6:3,4)

bulletWE BELIEVE in the Lord’s Supper (Communion).

"For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread;

"And when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, ‘Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.’

"In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.’

"For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes." (1 Corinthians 11:23-26)

bulletWE BELIEVE in tithes and offerings for the support of God’s work.

"Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this," Says the LORD of hosts, "If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it." (Malachi 3:10)

"If we have sown spiritual things for you, is it a great thing if we reap your material things?" (1 Corinthians 9:11)

OUR VISION:

Our vision is to take the Word of Life to the nations, by equipping and releasing believers to Spirit-filled ministry.

OUR VALUES:

PURSUING GOD: The depth of God’s relationship with us is inexhaustible. Therefore, we seek Him in all that we do.

HONORING THE WORD: God’s Word is final authority. We esteem it over opinions, revelations, visions, experiences, and any other source we look to for direction.

THE PRIESTHOOD OF THE BELIEVERS: We recognize God calls all believers to live in His presence and to express the talents, gifts, and ministries that He has prepared for them. The orientation of ministry, then, is in everyday living, impacting our community and beyond.

UNITY: We will love that which Jesus loves -- the whole church. Therefore; we relate to one another honorably, seeking to preserve the bond of peace, without compromising our calling and place in the Body of Christ.

GRACE AND MERCY: The purpose of the cross was the redemption of men and women. Therefore; to the best of our ability we will treat each person with respect, dignity, and loving patience -- pointing them toward godliness.

RELATIONSHIP: We desire to accept into our fellowship any sincere believer who is attempting to walk in obedience to God, is repentant of their sins, and is in submission to the authority of the church.

GENEROSITY: We are stewards of God’s gifts and resources. This means that when God directs, we will be willing to give away what we have (giving to get, to give again).

CULTURAL RELEVANCE: One of our priorities is ministering the love and power of Christ to people in ways that impact their everyday lives. We hold to relevant worship music, teaching, dress, and administration of spiritual giftedness. We want to be "naturally supernatural."

INTEGRITY: It is important to us to be honest and real, trustworthy, morally sound, pure of heart, and godly in character. We also strive for each believer to be an integral part of the Lord’s plan for our fellowship.
