You Haven’t Passed This Way Before

A prophetic word from Cheryl Thompson, Feb. 4, 2007

You Are Greatly Loved

You are greatly loved people. I love you and Mike loves you. And more than anything, God loves you. You are loved to the core. He created you, He knows you and He loves you.

And He is bringing forth your destiny in this hour.

This is the day of your destiny. The season has changed. There’s been a shift in the spirit. Everything we’ve talked about until now – we are actually stepping into.

And I want you to know, it’s not just this church. It’s not just Mike and Cheryl. It’s YOU. It’s you, God’s people, who are stepping into your destiny. This is your day!

And the Lord said, You have not passed this way before.

I know WE haven’t passed this way before. And this whole thing about the building and the property and all – we’re finding out as we go how all this works. We’re also finding out that we’re not doing it the way most churches do. We never have!

We’re a strange bunch. But that’s good! Hallelujah!

So we haven’t passed this way before. But the Lord says, Tell the people THEY haven’t passed this way before either. Because up until now, the battles you’ve been fighting were in the wilderness on that side of the Jordan.

You could see your promised land. But you were still waiting. God gave you vision. He let you see your promised land. And you’ve been fighting the battle, hanging in there for some years.

This Fight is Different

And then all of the sudden, the season changed and we’ve gone over the river. We’ve already gone over! I want you to know, we’re not on our way. No, we have already gone over the Jordan. You are now in your promised land.

But here’s the thing: It doesn’t mean the battle’s over! Now you’re dealing with the giants that are in the land. This fight is different. It’s not the fight of former slaves and victims, out in the wilderness crying, ‘Lord, what are we going to do? How are we going to make it?’ Eating manna and trying to survive.

This time it is the fight of people who have authority, because THIS IS OURS! You can say, This is mine! This is my land, this is my day, this is the hour of my destiny.

And it gives you authority to say, Devil, you can’t have it anymore!

We’re driving out the inhabitants of the land. And absolutely not taking ‘No’ for an answer. I don’t care how stupid we look. I don’t care how the world looks at us and says, ‘What on earth…?’ We are NOT grasshoppers!

No Grasshopper Mentality Here

The first bunch of spies who went into the land came back and said, ‘We can’t do it – we’re grasshoppers in their sight.’ But the truth is, they were grasshoppers in their own sight.

But we are the Joshua’s and Caleb’s who believe God. We’re well able to take the land! We’re going in. There’s no grasshopper mentality here!

We’ve got God on our side – He’s in us! He’s walking on our land with us. Everywhere you put the sole of your foot, it’s yours. And its anointed, its with authority, and you’re receiving. It’s a time of receiving. Not just looking for it ‘out there.’

Some of you have stood for a lot of years. But now it’s time to receive. It’s no longer future tense, it’s now. Now. And that’s what makes it exciting.

The Lord told me to tell you this: As you walk into your land, don’t let the devil deceive you with the ‘spirit of poverty.’

Let me tell you about the spirit of poverty.

The Lord started giving me dreams and visions about supernatural finances, back in the year 2000. It was January of 2000 – the night before my dad went home to be with the Lord. I saw his funeral, but I didn’t really know what I was seeing. And then the Lord started talking to me about supernatural finances. (I don’t know if it’s related, but you know how dreams are…)

And the Lord started showing me things. He told me He was going to ‘put wealth into our hands.’ He said, The reason I’m releasing the anointing for supernatural finances into the hands of the Spirit-filled body of Christ (and He made a point of it – the Spirit-filled body of Christ) is because the job He has called us to do in this hour takes supernatural finances. It takes a lot of money to do what we’re called to do.

And we’re not called to remain ‘the little church on the corner.’ As comfortable as that might be. He said there is a world to reach, and this is our calling and this is our hour. There’s revival in the land. It’s our job, as His ambassadors and in obedience to Him, to go and do what He’s told us to do.

He’s Given Money an Assignment: to Follow You

He told me, ‘I have given money an assignment – to follow you when you obey Me.’ But here’s the tricky part, it doesn’t really show up until you start moving. A lot of people are sitting around waiting for the money to show up before they’ll do anything. And they’ll be waiting until Jesus comes back. Because it doesn’t come until you start moving.

And so, we’re moving!

He said ‘I commanded the resources on this planet to follow you.’ You need to lay hold of that! Start stepping out in faith and start believing God. This is it! This is it!

He said the anointing is for supernatural finances. And I hadn’t heard anyone else preach it at that point. But after that I started hearing other ministers preach it. I got ahold of some teachings from Dr. Leroy Thompson, and now I hear many other prophets speaking of the transfer of wealth in the last days. And I was so thrilled because I already knew about it! I had already dreamed about it! So I’m really not a nut!!

And I am just simple enough to actually believe that this is what we are participating in.

So in this dream, I saw a church building. I saw mostly the outside. Later, Mike had a vision and saw the inside. And honestly, much of this we’re ‘walking out’ as we go. I don’t know if what we’re building now is the building I saw in the dream, or if this is practice for the next one. But either way, we’re heading in that direction.

Beware of the Spirit of Poverty

But the Lord said, Beware of the spirit of poverty. The spirit of poverty is the thing that caused them to say, ‘We are grasshoppers.’

This is not condemnation on anyone who is poor or doesn’t have money. That’s not the point at all. It has nothing to do with how much money you have.

The spirit of poverty is NOT lack of money. It is the FEAR of lack of money. It is ‘containment’ that tries to come in on all sides to keep you from obeying God and His Word.

When the spirit of poverty gets ahold of somebody, it manifests across the board. It affects all their relationships and everything. Gradually they stop witnessing, they stop dealing righteously with people, they ‘shut up their bowels of compassion’ and stop giving.

That spirit of poverty shuts you down and keeps you out of your destiny.

It affects your giving in two ways:

1) It causes you NOT TO GIVE to the Lord. You withhold tithes and offerings, and won’t listen to the Spirit in that area.

2) It causes you TO GIVE AWAY something you shouldn’t – your authority in the earth.

You see, you have authority on this planet, in the name of Jesus. You have authority over finances. The Lord has said, ‘Speak to that money and command it to come to you,’ because He has already commanded it to. You’re lining yourself up with His purposes.

But the spirit of poverty will cause you to give away that authority. You start acting like you don’t have any authority. You start acting like you don’t have any power over your life, which is the worst part of it all.

And in the natural, it may feel like you don’t. But through the name of Jesus, you have the power to absolutely change all those earthly situations. Totally change them all.

Put On the Spirit of Prosperity – It’s an Authority Issue

So the Lord said, Put on the spirit of prosperity. And again, don’t think dollar signs. Think authority! Think ‘acting like God’ – being a giver in every area of your life.

It’s like this: I’m a giver. I give love. I give finances. I care about other people. I pray for people. I’m not afraid to witness for Jesus. I’m not afraid to prophesy to the stranger in the grocery store. (And I do! Scares the socks off of some of them too. It’s really fun! The Lord knows how to get people’s attention.)

So it’s an authority issue. And the Lord says, Take your authority and act like the Word of God is true: The written Word and the prophetic Word. Act like it’s true.

When you give your tithes and offerings, obey God and act like the Word of God is true. That’s called ‘faith’ and it pleases Him. It’s you saying ‘Yes’ to your destiny!

My Prayer for You

Lord, I thank you for the honor and privilege of living in this day and hour. Lord, we believe you. We choose right now to walk in the authority You’ve given us. We choose to reject the spirit of poverty.

In fact, I rebuke the spirit of poverty. I take authority over it – any of the clutches of that spirit on the hearts and minds of God’s people – I rebuke it now in Jesus’ name.

And I command the eyes of their understanding to be flooded with revelation and light. That they would see the hope to which You have called them, Lord. Every one of us. Let there be divine vision and perspective.

And I call the spirit of prosperity to flow into the people of God. I command a release of those supernatural finances into every family, every person and every heart that is open to receive it.

I command the prophet’s reward on them. I ask you to bless them. And I rebuke every tactic of the devil that’s stopping God’s will for their lives. I render it powerless.

The anointing for supernatural finances is a breaker anointing. And I release it on God’s precious people! Receive it now in Jesus’ name! Amen. ÿ
